I am on the train with John Bolton. Seems like a dick.
On the heels of Scott's post about "A Nation of Wimps" I saw this on the news.
Next thing you know it will be "You have been fined one credit for a violation of the verbal morality statute". At least all restaurants aren't Taco Bell.
Did you ever get so behind on posting in your blog it just seemed more and more pointless to write a post to cover everything that has gone on?
Welcome to my blog.
First and most importantly, for the few who don't read my wife's blog, I am going to be a father in March of 2008.
Most everyone knows we've been trying for this for quite some time, and I'm absolutely thrilled about becoming a Dad. I've got a ton of locked posts I wrote before we were telling people. I will go through and unlock them soon. I kept a pretty good log of what was going through my head during that time.
After that kind of news pretty much everything else that has gone on doesn't even really fit on the radar. We went to DeagonCon. Had a good time hanging out, was nice to see everyone again. Sorely missed those that couldn't be there. You know who you are.
The weekend after DragonCon we went to the race at RIR with Scott and Matt. The driving, parking, walking, crowds, etc were just about enough to convince me I was done going to see the races in person. Then they started the engines. Anybody interesting in going to the spring race? :) :)
After picking up a MacBook for myself this spring, work bought us MacBook Pros this week, so I am going through the final stages of setting that up and moving my stuff over tonight. It is a fine machine I must say. Very pleased indeed.
That's about all there is fit to print. Lots and lots of traveling and goings on planned in the coming months. I will try to do a better job of keeping this thing updated.
Another 30 made up. Eta 3pm.
Made up 30 mins. Eta now 330pm.
South bound with the hammer down. Current eta 4pm.
I was digging through an old (dying) hard drive tonight and came across a few pictures from New Year, 2000. These were taken in my first apartment I shared with my buddy Matt. My taste for Malibu has not waned. :)
I still lived in Tennessee, I wouldn't move to VA for another two years. Misty and I had broken up a couple months prior so I spent this one solo. The snow you see is actually really rare for Memphis, hence the drawing in the street.
Like any evening that starts with that much alcohol, it ended both literally and figuratively in tears. :-p
Show us your first car.

My first car was an '85 Z28 with T-tops. Similar to this one, but it was white with gold ground effects. I once flew it through a baseball diamond backstop, but that's a long story ;)
I know it must seem like I only post to complain I'm awake in the middle of the night (morning)... ok, well, so I only post when I'm awake in the middle of the night.
I woke up around 2am with a raging headache. The light from the TV hurt like hell to look at. So I got up and took some Excedrin, laid around on the couch for a bit, and now its somewhat better. Better enough that the laptop screen doesn't hurt. Still feel like crap. Got quite a bit done though. My exciting Friday afternoon/evening went something like this:
Got off work at 3pm, went shopping with Misty. Picked up a couple new shirts. Made it home around 5 or so. Went down the street to fix the neighbor's printing issue (turned out her printer just needed to be power-cycled). Came home and cooked dinner around 6:30. I made porkchops, mashed potatoes, green beans, and crescent rolls. Mmmmmm, quality. After dinner I mowed the front yard and pruned my roses, which are doing excellently this year I might add. Finished outside around 8:30, came in and took a shower. Washed / folded / ironed / put away all the dirty clothes. Well, except for the towels. They're in the dryer. I'll fold them later. Came down and cleaned up the kitchen from dinner. Submitted a patch to the author of Net::DNS::ToolKit so it will build on OSX. By then it was about 11:00 and I was exhausted, so I got into bed and finished Blink, which was an excellent read, highly recommend it.
So, that was my Friday. Had fun shopping with Misty, and got quite a bit done around the house. My Saturday isn't shaping up so well thus far. Luckily I've got nothing to do today except to install a couple more apps on the neighbor's new computer, which won't take long. So I can sleep the day away if I continue to feel like I got run over by something.
